I am also thankful for the competition in computing between Apple and IBM and Microsoft. I firmly believe that some of the greatest inventions result from competition. Apple swept the nation twice before IBM could blink... so IBM retaliated after much deliberation and help from Microsoft, and Apple disappeared. But look where we are now.
I used to be in awe of the things my desktop HP running Windows XP could do! It was so much faster than Windows 95, and I was a little more grown up and expected a lot more from it... Then there was Vista. The epitome of all screw-ups. I have no idea what on earth anyone was thinking when they were marketing that crap. Maybe they were drunk. The operating system runs like an inebriated child with ADD. Yuck. Anyways... I was in the market for a laptop before my junior year of high school. I was looking at a really nice HP for about $799, and I pretty much had my heart set on it... until I shook hands with a MacBook Pro.
Hook.
Line.
Sinker.
Love at first sight. Butterflies in my tummy. Gone with the wind. It was me and my MB Pro... Together Forever. In the middle of my senior year I shoveled out $3000, and he was mine (I named him Stanley. He is red.).Line.
Sinker.
Anyways, Apple once again took the world by storm... not to mention the revolutionary iPhone, iPods, iPod Touch, and iMacs. Toshiba- what's that? HP who? They are on top. Again. Resurrected. And I am grateful. I can't even stand to use a PC anymore. But who will challange? Is there no one coming in close second? Are the others shouting into the thunderstorm? Regardless, Apple is sweeping the nation folks, and I am a devout follower.
