Transformation

I got the idea for my Xerox project off of my "OPTIMUS PRIME FOR PRESIDENT" Transformers shirt. I decided to do my transformation from high school to college and show the different elements of both lives using everyday objects I encounter and my face and hands. It turned out pretty well, but naturally, there are some things I wish I could change about it. I hope you like it!

This side of the poster represents the old me, or at least an unrevolutionized me. My hands are in one piece and one color to symbolize that I didn't utilize my artist ability because I allowed others to put parameters on my creativity. Thus, my hands are holding a pencil because I like writing and also because I wish I could have erased those boundaries. The rubber ducky has two meanings: 1) I collect duckies... I still do, but not as avidly. 2) I played soccer almost 6 days a week for a little under 10 years. It was a huge part of my life and my personality. The flip flop is to make the statement that I rarely wore closed toed shoes unless I had to. I lived off of a flash drive because I was always working on 2+ computers at once. The piece of paper in the top right hand corner is my "membership card" for the National Honor Society. My senior year, I was the President of the organization at my school. There is also a picture of my class ring next to it. The image on the ring is a soccer ball with my number on it (20) and my position (Sweeper). The can tops in my hand symbolize my addiction to caffine, more spcifically Dr Pepper. The picture holder with "LOVE" stuck in it symbolizes my love of pictures and photography. The lips next to the frame are holding my favorite flavor chapstick- Watermelon. The oblong shape hanging from the top is my turtle keychain. (Unfortunately, it's lost it's head.) That symbolizes my time at church camp with some of my best friends. It was my home away from home! Then my face in the center has me with my glasses on and no smile.

On this side of the poster, my face is smiling and one eye is closed with another overlayed open so that it appears as if I am winking at you. Here, my hands are cut up into different pieces of different styles and colors (as inspired by William Burroughs). Then, on top of my hand is the lens cap to my Nikon D60 to show my increasing knowledge and experience in photography. My Spartan Card is also here to represent my freedom at college and a whole new world of experiences. My laundry card is representative of the challenges I've faced since my journey to college. The small circle pin has a camera on it (dunno if you can see it) which shows me new found love of filming and cinematography. Next to this, are the other rings I have become accustomed to wearing... both of which I bought in Ireland last summer. The sneaker is representative of my new love for close-toed shoes. I have an extra hand on this side because it's holding my phone... which has a guitar pick overtop of it. I love playing guitar and the guitar happends to read GUITAR HERO MOBILE or something, hence the reason it's on my phone. Then, last but not least, hanging from the top is another keychain of mine. It's Lucy from Charlie Brown. This is where my mom coined the name Loo-Loo, aka Kassie Loo.

Hey Kassie, great job. The thing that I love about your project was that you made it very interactive and 2D and 3D all in one. But, probably the most fun I had while looking at your project was that looking form different sides your collage had different message. Great job again.

I thought this was a great idea and I love your use of color. Even in the before pics of your hands, it looks amazing. I also like the layout of everything and how the poster is free standing. Great job!

very cool how you took one flat piece of poster board and bent it to create 2 very different perspectives. The pictures posted here show that very well. Great idea.

I liked your usage of color on your hands and how you manipulated those shapes into more dynamic and abstract shapes. The way you had your project presented was really neat too, even including not just scanned parts of yourself, but also scanned items that really bring out your personality.

I lovedddd your idea for this project! Spelling a word out with you fingers was awesome and I loved that you represented your old self and your new self by just changing the way you look at your art piece.

i really liked your use of colors and that it was sort of like two different stories depending on the direction you look at it
