If You Can't Love Yourself, How Are You Going To Love Anybody Else?

RuPaul's Drag Race was a very interesting show. Normally, reality shows don't spark my attention, but after watching this one... I could easily watch it regularly! I love RuPaul, and I think the show has an interesting twist. It's like America's Next Top Model, sort of.

The technology used in RuPaul's show is the make-up, props for each challenge, outfits, and personal style. This technology, of course, is used throughout history in Opera, Broadway, and television. It's like you are finding a voice, putting a dress on it, and displaying it to a room of non-believers. You must show them who you are and who you can be. Similar to the drag queen show.

Throughout the show, the women participate in challenges that portray glamour, heart, and attitude. In episode 3, the contestants had to take on the persona of Opera. I thought the turn-out was very interesting. It's very hard to embody someone else's personality. It's not just about make-up and appearance. You have to find a voice and attitude unlike your own. That is what performance art is all about. You must use your body as the canvas, your surroundings as the easel, and your voice as the paintbrush.
